Welcome Diamond!

Room 12 welcomed a new class member this week! Diamond started school on Monday. We love having Diamond in our class!

Wednesday was the last day of our Photography unit, and so we set out to take some of our very best photos. The students had to remember all of the things we had learned about taking photos... - Choosing interesting things to photograph - Handling the camera carefully - Half press to focus, then a full press of the button to take a photo - Close ups for detail - Holding still when taking a photo They did a fantastic job! We made these super cute cupcakes for our letter of the week! Olly the Owl was very impressed!

Character Day! What fun!

Today was CharacterDay at school. It was so amazing! So many kids dressed up! Mrs Kitchen was Russell the Sheep, Mrs Newman was Grandma McGarvey and Mr Prchal was Bob the Builder!

Brooke, Cleveland and Xavier have also made AMAZING progress with their letter names and sounds. They almost know every single one! Mrs Kitchen is just about bursting with excitement!!!

Super writer of the day!

Cleveland just wrote a fabulous story about a creature called a 'friggle' that came to play with him! Well done Cleveland!

His story says 'My spider friggle is scaring Mrs Kitchen!'

Run, run as fast as you can! Gingerbread Men!

On Friday for our Strand Maths, we read the story of the Gingerbread Man. We then decorated our big paper gingerbread men with the shapes that they like.

We had two visitors with us from Big Steps. It was so much fun to have them with us! We then decided to decorate the gingerbread men that we made the day before. But we had no decorations! Mrs Kitchen had enough money for five different decorations, so we did an investigation to decide what to buy. We each got to choose our favourite three.
Three kids got to go with Mrs Kitchen to Countdown to buy the decorations. We decided to get M and Ms, sprinkles, marshmallows, silver cachous and chocolate drops. Then we decorated the gingerbread men!

They were delicious!!!

Olly's Big Melbourne Adventure - the trip home

Hi Room 12!
What a long day it has been! Our plane took a long time to get to the airport to pick us up, so Mrs Kitchen and I had to go shopping. I was very well-behaved and only spent my money on these...

Who do you think they are for? We got home really late, so I am off to bed.

Olly's Big Melbourne Adventure - Day Four

Hi Room 12!
What fun I have had today!
We visited Silverton Primary school again today and I had sooooo much fun with the kids. One was a Doctor and gave me a check-up. She said my heart was a bit wobbly and my temperature was high. I was probably over-excited by all the fun. She made me feel better when she gave me an injection. I was very brave and didn't cry!

She even gave me a 'bath' and dressed me in a new outfit.
Another girl invited me to lunch. It was delicious. I started with fish, and then had a sausage.

And I made another new friend! Mrs Kitchen didn't get to see the big lizard, but did get to hold a baby turtle.

I can't believe we come home tomorrow! I am excited about going on the plane again, I had so much fun last time. Missing you all and so excited to see you all on Thursday.

Olly's Melbourne Adventure - Day Three

Hi Room 12!
What a fabulous day I had today! Silverton Primary School is such an exciting school. Today we took the train all the way out to the school. We watched their assembly, Maths, writing and Discovery Time. In Discovery Time, the kids were doing all sorts of fun things - cooking, computers, making models, mosaics, iPads... It was amazing.

Olly's Melbourne Adventure - Day Two

Hi Room 12!
Wow, is it cold in Melbourne!!! I am having a great time, but have had to dress very warmly. Mrs Kitchen even had to buy me a new hat! Check it out...

The crusaders lost their rugby game, so I was quite sad last night. But I have had a great time shopping and riding trains today. Here is a picture of sheep and me ready to go out for breakfast...

It is going to be a very busy day tomorrow, so I had better go to bed. Mrs Kitchen stays up later than I do!

Olly's Big Melbourne Adventure Day One!

Hello Room 12! We made it to Melbourne and are having lots of fun so far. We had a very comfy plane ride to Australia and we have also been riding on a tram around the city. Mrs Kitchen has done some shopping, and I have made a new friend. He is a sheep and he belongs to Miss Gentil. Mr V and Mrs Booth are having fun too. We are getting ready to go to the Crusaders rugby game - I hope they win!
