Our Fantastic Student Teacher!

We have been so lucky in Room 12 this week! Miss Bronwyn Patrick is a first year student teacher who has been helping out in Room 12, watching what we do and helping us learn. It has been wonderful to have you in our class Miss Patrick, and we will be really excited to have you back in Term Three. Thank you for all your wonderful help this week!

The Flood!

Today was a very exciting day in Room 12!  There were floods everywhere!
Together, we wrote a book about the floods at our school...

Today there was a flood on our school field.
We can see it from our door.
There is another flood next door on the soccer field.
We can see it through the window.
The soccer clubrooms are flooded too.
People are putting sandbags around their houses.
We saw the seagulls and the ducks.
They were swimming around and having fun.
We made a flood in our classroom.
We built a bridge and houses with blocks.
We played with the army men and the cars.
There were ducks in our flood too!
It was so much fun.

We also wrote these stories about the floods by ourselves...

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

On Friday, we made a very hungry caterpillar cake to celebrate the letter Cc! We used cupcakes and a cake. It was delicious!

The Laptops

Last week we started using the Junior C.O.W. (Computers on Wheels). The C.O.W. is a big trolley with sixteen laptops! It was very exciting. We learned how to turn the laptop on and log in using our user name and password. We then played some learning games called Starfall and PBSKids.

The links are here...

Mrs Kitchen says... "I was so proud of all of the kids in Room 12. They treated the laptops really carefully and listened to instructions. They can already independently login and get started after only two lessons! Great job everyone! You are superstars!"

N is for Nest!

Last week, our letter of the week was nN. On Fun Friday we made nests out of chocolate crackles! We even put "real" birds eggs in them! (They were actually chocolate and delicious).
Here are our yummy nests...

Pirates and Princesses Day!

We had a fabulous time celebrating the letter P this week! We had some fantastic items brought from home for our treasure table, including people pegs, pumice, a penguin, a parrot, some pineapple lumps and a paper plane! On Thursday, we had a pirates and princesses party. We all dressed up. We played pass the parcel and found some pirate and princess rings inside! We had delicious party food (pink wafers, popcorn, pretzels, pink milk and pineapple lumps. After morning tea, we discovered a treasure map from 'Pirate Prchal'. We went to Mr Prchal's office and he was dressed as a pirate! He also had a treasure chest filled with pebbles. What a terrific day! Here is a photo collage of some of the things we did, and then photos of all of the Room 12 Pirates and Princesses.
