Our trip to the Bird Recovery Centre

Wow, what a fabulous trip we had on Wednesday! The junior school visited the Bird Recovery Centre, where Robert Webb showed us around. He told us all about the birds that were there. We saw two talking tuis, a couple of kereru, a hawk, a peacock and three kiwi. One kiwi was about to be released back into the wild, and another was only ten days old! Everyone got to pat Sparky the kiwi, which was an AMAZING experience!
This is what room 12 thought about this kiwi...
"I thought it was going to be smooth but it was spiky"  Carney
"It was a little bit soft and a little bit hard"  Damien
"It felt like it had gel in its hair"  Hemana
Here are some photos of the day - it was terrific!
